Competent
Comprehension is a seed from which competency can grow. At Conscious Connections we offer and facilitate comprehensive learning. Comprehensive learning about our equine friends and ourselves as equestrians. We offer extensive education on riders, our biomechanics, cause and effect consciousness, psychology and so much more. From textbook driven body-mapping classes to live clinics, we help riders understand more about themselves and their horses and we consult with and work with various elite organizations for their expertise on the athleticism of horse and rider.
Conscious
Consciousness, awareness and mindfulness go hand in hand and reap unlimited rewards in our relationship with horses. As prey animals, horse survival is predicated on being present in every moment. We try to meet them where they are. From the moment clients and staff embark on their day with horses we ask them to slow down and take it all in - noticing small things that can yield masses of information, noticing the impact our presence has on horses - grounding ourselves, taking a deep breath and getting present for the moments we are in in real-time. Consciousness also taps into Competence as we learn how we engage our own instruments/bodies, we can have a consciousness of how our moods, physical habits, quirks or imbalances may be affecting the horses we ride.
Connections
We explore, both in the saddle and on the ground the connections we make with our horses - those seen and unseen. How little is often needed to ask a horse to connect with us - how, through relaxation of our own bodies, while mounted, can facilitate and lead relaxation, suppleness and reach in our horses. Through games of Direct & Drive and R+ training we explore connecting with the horses mind, sense of play, trust and bonding. We enjoy the benefits of supreme harmony with our horses.
